Nissan has been slowly but surely pushing its way into the lightweight truck market for quite some time now, and they've finally made the jump to offering a diesel mill as an option! This is like a teen getting braces; they are so close to being a full fledged adult, we can barely tell they had nothing but itty bitty Frontiers ten years ago! My, they certainly grow up fast. The 5.0L diesel mill that was SUPPOSED to go into the 2014 Ram has 300 horses, but 420 ft lbs of torque. That's diesel for ya. Apparently, Dodge didn't think that it achieved a high enough average mpg for them, so they opted to use a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel instead.
Interestingly enough, this is the first time a Cummins sourced engine has been used in anything other than a Dodge Ram. I don't know for sure how much that will assist in the marketability of the new Titan, but I would assume it would help tremendously.
What are your thoughts? Should Cummins stick with Dodge? Does it matter? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and don't forget to "like" and share on Facebook.
