Volvo Seriously Downsizes 12-Volt Battery: WOW.

Batteries have been the largest hurdle to cross in the realm of fully electric vehicles as they are heavy, big, and take significantly longer to re-charge than filling your tank. Volvo has found a way to not only shrink the batteries so much that they are hardly noticeable, but they reduced the overall weight of the car by as much as 15%. What they have done is essentially built a hi-tech super sandwich composed of high strength carbon fiber sheets and fast-charging "super capacitors". Although we still don't know  when we will see this new tech being applied to our cars, we do know the odds are pretty good that they WILL be used.
