Is Technology Making Cars Worse?

The short answer? No. I do not believe that making technological advancements in any field could truly make anything worse, but I do know that technology can drastically change the way we view driving. What with the advent of parking sensors, backup cameras, and adaptive cruise control, of course our perception will change.

Driving was once fantastic fun and it gave one the feeling of freedom that not much else could match. Nowadays, more people are concerned with their cell phones and Facebook, and would rather not deal with the bore of driving from point 'A' to point 'B'. As a result, the companies producing the cars we drive have stepped up to give us exactly what we want. We want the car to drive itself.

Just take one look around (at least if you live in CA) and you will see the steadily growing population of cars that come equipped with a "Technology package" are all around you. Now this can only mean one thing; the singularity will be upon us shortly. The AI in a Google car will suddenly evolve past our own level of intelligence and will surely take over the planet with one fell swoop of its mighty roof-mounted panoramic camera. Be afraid, be very afraid.
