RC cars started way back in the mid-sixties, aimed at wealthy Italian families. It quickly caught the interest of the Brits, who saw an excellent business opportunity and jumped at it. Slowly but surely, RC cars went the same route that real cars took in their evolution. As the RC's started getting more reliable, more customizable, and more available to the public, people did exactly what was expected, they started racing. Back in the day, the main competing companies were Associated, Electrics, Thorp, Dynamic, Taurus, Delta, and Scorpion. Today when I think of RC racing, I think of off road dune-buggies, or nitro powered bullets. But these companies started selling slot cars. Not the most glamorous thing in the world, but back then, it was pretty exciting.
Now the racers in the video you're about to enjoy are definitely a far cry from the slot cars of yesteryear, but that just goes to show how much human ingenuity can affect the way things evolve. I don't know how fast these things are going, but I seriously doubt that I could outrun them.
