FAQ: We're here to help.

The auto industry can be a daunting place for those not familiar with it. So we at Wheels and Deals have composed a short list of Frequently Asked Questions to skim the surface of what is an ever changing business. Feel free to call us at (408) 246-1000 or shoot us a message on Facebook and we'll be happy to answer any further questions you may have!

  • How do I know what gas mileage a car gets before I buy it?
There is a government run website called fueleconomy.gov that has been invaluable to our customers in the past and will continue to provide solid information in the future.

  • Do I need to smog my car before it is sold?
If your model year is 1975 or older or less than 3 years old, you do not need to smog your vehicle in order to legally sell it. According to CA law, any model years falling between these guidelines need to be smogged within 90 days of the sale.

  • How much do I have to pay for taxes and registration when purchasing a vehicle?
When buying a car that needs to be re-registered, you will add roughly 10% to the final purchase price, and taxes will be payed to DMV when you visit their offices. (Unless buying from dealership, in which case all DMV will be handled on-site.)

  • What does it take to display my car at Wheels and Deals?
We charge an initial fee that is good for up to 30 days of display. That means we handle the test drives, security, online marketing, and weekly washing of the vehicle. When sold we get an additional flat rate regardless of the price of your car or truck. If your car does not sell in the 30 days, we do not charge the selling fee, as that is our incentive. Mention this blog when calling or visiting and receive $25 off the display rate!
  • How do I know how to price my vehicle
If you bring your car down to our lot in Santa Clara, we would be more than happy to give you a good idea what we think it would sell for, at no obligation to display it here. We could even make you an offer on the spot!

  • I don't want to deal with anyone at all when selling my car; is there a consignment option available?
Absolutely! If you would like someone else to handle the sale of you vehicle, that is something else we would be happy to do for you as well. Consignment options vary, so if that's something you might be interested in, come visit us and we can discuss what would work best for you!
