A Convertible Truck? Really? Ick.

What we have here is a very limited production model of the 1989 Dodge Dakota. This particular truck is a convertible, which makes it far more unique than just a standard Dakota pickup. It was marketed mainly towards young people who went to the beach with surf boards on a regular basis and wanted the mobility of a stout 4x4. I'm not really surprised that it didn't take off as well as Dodge had hoped, simply because this thing is uglier than sin. Sure it's a neat idea, but that's not what matters. People want to look good in their cars. It looks like someone chopped the roof off a standard Dakota, threw a roll bar and top on it, and called it a convertible. Essentially, I suppose that's exactly what they did. But with the top down, it seems like it's gonna fly off and impale the person trailing closely behind, who is trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with your truck.
