Will PG&E Be the Chevron of the future?

It seems to me that sometime in the future, fossil fuels will be just that: fossils. Every day we see these itty bitty electric cars, or hybrids with no personality, slowly but surely hitting our streets and getting in our way. Is this what's to be expected in our future? Assuming, of course, that we make it through 2012, it's not something to be taken lightly. The sudden boom in electric car technology is largely due to the sudden spike in gas prices and lack of money in our wallets. People want something that won't cost them 2500 dollars a year just to keep running, and that's something with which we can all relate. As CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) requirements get higher and higher, it's becoming increasingly difficult for auto manufacturers to design and build fun, affordable cars that can actually achieve these standards. Although I applaud their efforts to help make the world a better place by decreasing our oil consumption, I would still like to be able to give a big ol' V8 a solid whoppin' every now and then.

Ford has done a superb job at keeping up its CAFE standards while still allowing us to enjoy the car, rather than just driving from point A to point B. Take a look at the Taurus SHO, for example. It has an AWD drive train, a 3.5L twin-turbo Ecoboost V6, and looks that are pleasing to the eye. Thanks to Ford's new Ecoboost engine, the car delivers 18 mpg city, and 28 on the highway. And of course, if you really want to, you can drive the hell out of it, and will love every second! It has 365 Turbocharged horses, and it outperforms many Euro-sedans in more ways than one. Why can't all manufactures build fun-to-drive machines that still keep up with the times? I suppose that's for them to know, and us to find out. Until then, I'll be one of the few remaining speed freaks out there, gas-guzzlin my way to hippie hell. Check out this video narrated by  Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear BBC on Forza 4. It might give ya the chills.
