Russian Trapeze Artist/Motorcyclist Hitches Ride on Car

It isn't often you catch someone in the act of doing something incredible, but thanks to the interwebs, we get to see ridiculous crap like this far more regularly than any generation before us. In Russia, dash cams are far more prevalent than here in the states, mainly due to insurance fraud running rampant. However, as we all know, the craziest ish seems to go down in the land of Mother Russia, and this clip is no different. Take a look and prepare to be blown away.

This Derpy Car is Googles Autonomous Prototype? Bummer.

THIS IS IT. The worlds first-ever, real autonomous driving machine! No, it's not a super Prius of some kind, its actually an official Google product with no real name at this point. As far as I can tell it's simply referred to as "Googles first self-driving car"; which seems a little strange to me, but that's the way the cookie crumbles for the time being.

It has no manual controls over the vehicle inside or out. It simply has a GPS where you enter the address of your destination and you go. That's it. The interior design is aimed towards making the trip as practical as possible, with ergonomic seating positions and room for baggage at your feet. I can imagine that being taken along for a 25mph ride (top speed limited) in something that looks like a robots head would be interesting, to say the least.

A Little Perspective: Agera R vs. Ford Focus Mile Drag Race

It isn't very often that you see two cars that are so unequivocally mismatched go head-to-head in a drag race, but this video gives us some valuable perspective into how fast these hypercars actually are. The Agera R wields a simply mind-numbing 1,140 horses, while the econo-box Focus has 115 diesel-powered ponies. Obviously they have to give the Focus some sort of advantage, so they don't unleash the Agera until the Focus is already halfway down the runway. It feels to me like they are releasing a crippled rabbit ten seconds before the Cheetah. Doesn't seem fair either way, but there you have it. Check out the short video and enjoy. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter, or friend us on Facebook for future Wheels and Deals rides and stories. Drive safe, drive fun, and drive on.

Check Out This Retro Firebird Ad from the 98' Superbowl

We've all seen countless automotive related ads from Superbowls past, but this one has got to be in my top ten favorites of all time. The 1999 Firebird Trans Am is the Chevy Camaro's bastard brother, only because it happened to sell far fewer examples than the gold bow tie. Personally, I'm far more partial to Pontiac's version of the legendary F-body platform, as it's uniqueness adds a certain aura of badassery. Unfortunately, the rarity of the car means that the price is significantly higher than its blase brother-in-law. Check out this sweet ad where the Firebird literally eats the competition. Enjoy.

Cars Men Drive That Women Love

As it so happens, the car that women find most attractive isn't a car at all. It's a truck. Which is a slap in the face to those of us who assumed that those who owned bro-trucks happened to have tiny genitalia. Well, of course the women may find that strangely attractive, although I doubt it.

Apparently a clean black truck means that the male in question has the ability to move a woman's things for her, go on road trips without a hitch (ha. ha.), and has the funds to take care of her. Here's a list from the top down of the most attractive vehicles men drive according to women.

  • Pickup trucks: 32%
  • Sports cars: 27%
  • SUVs: 16%
  • Sedans: 11%
  • Hybrid or electric: 9%
  • UPS truck: 4%
  • Minivans: 2%
  • Mail truck: 1%

I'm actually stunned that ANY women find the guy in the mail truck particularly attractive, but hey, to each their own. What are your thoughts on the matter? Are women just as shallow as the poll suggests? Or are they simply doing what is natural by selecting the most reasonable mating partner? Let us know in the comments below, and have a great day!

What Wet Dreams Are Made of: R8 inspired GTI.

The VW GTi has been a staple in auto enthusiasts lives since the dawn of time. Well, not really, but it's been around long enough that it deserves a certain amount of respect. VW has done a pretty good job of improving the design and performance year after year, and because it has such a massive following,  the aftermarket isn't lacking in upgrades to make it better. What we have here is the culmination of all those years of engineering and design, packed with horsepower, technology, and raw beauty. We have bore witness to some of the biggest advances in aerodynamic technology as well, and it is most evident in the c-pillar on the rear, which I am absolutely in love with. I can't seem to get enough of the wide stance, aggressive front fascia, and vicious wheel setup they chose to utilize. Everything about this concept screams, "I wanna go fast." Let us know what you think of this concept in the comments below. Love it or hate it, this thing is a head turner. And here's a video of a Lexus fly-by-wire steering wheels freaking the heck out. Enjoy.

Bosozoku Jingle Bells Exhaust Note: Impressive Star Fox...

Okay, so I don't know for sure if this guys Toyota GX71 can actually qualify as a bosozoku racer, but it certainly sounds the part. As a fellow auto enthusiast, I can appreciate the throttle control and tuning required to make the car sound this way, and I figured it's a fitting tribute to our countries most popular holiday with an international twist. Check it out and enjoy, and have a very Merry Christmas!

Epic Advertising: Jaguar VS. Mercedes

In the realm of automobile advertising, there are countless moments where you have to stop and think about what  the heck just happened in order to fully understand what is going on. Many times, this makes for a memorable commercial that (hopefully) will get people talking about your product. Mercedes-Benz has accomplished that exact goal, and their British competitors jumped on the animalistic bandwagon that really does nothing to showcase the abilities of either companies cars. They are, quite simply, meant to grab your attention, and they do it well. Which ad is the winner in this little battle royale? Check em out and enjoy.

Jump-Starting a Car the Iraqi Army Way.

What's more redneck than pulling a small block Chevy engine by hand? Jump starting a car with an AK-47. These Iraqi MacGyver's figured that the venerable weapon was full metal, and as such, it conducts electricity perfectly fine. So long as they removed the loaded mags before they attempt such a ludicrous venture, they should be okay. Check out the clip for some seriously entertaining mechanic work.

Honda is the Best at Creating Interesting Adverts.

Throughout the years, I've seen quite a few car advertisements; many meant to educate, others to entertain. Often times, I've found that the ones that say nothing about the car at all are the ones worth watching the most. Take this one, for example. It shows a bunch of suits in ties who are just completely blown away at the marvel that is the Honda CR-V Diesel! Come on, seriously? A CR-V certainly isn't the most impressive vehicle on the face of the Earth, so let's create a riveting 30 second spot that will make people think it's incredible and bends space and time! In reality, the CR-V is just a dependable little truck-thing that boring people across the world are now going to want for no reason other than this intriguing ad. Well? You know Honda marketing guys and gals certainly did there job. Check it out after the click.

Low Bridge + Tall Trucks = Mesmerizing Fun.

I noticed about halfway through the video that a majority of the trucks that happen to lose their lids are rentals from places like Enterprise or Ryder. So I suppose many of the accidents are forgivable, as the trucks were piloted by inexperienced drivers. But still, they are all quite entertaining to watch. Enjoy.

Stop Motion Fun!: Nitro Warriors 2

For those of you who have a passion for cars, I would be willing to bet that you started your love affair with either Matchbox or Hot Wheels play toys. I know that when I was a kid, building the tracks and environments was just as much fun as acquiring, collecting, and playing with the toys at our disposal. All I imagined was exactly what's taking place in this video. Check it out and enjoy.

What Will be Batman's Next Ride?

When "The Dark Knight" was released in July of 2012, the new Batmobile was on the forefront of everyone's mind. What we saw was a bloated, overweight tank that had no business being wielded by the Batman. He is supposed to be nimble, lightweight, and athletic; certainly the Tumbler couldn't be any of those things. But our minds were easily swayed once we witnessed the brutal power and speed that the Tumbler is capable of in the first movie of the trilogy.

I'm promoting Road Rage. Russian Style

Road rage is something that everyone on the face of the earth is smitten with if they drive a car at some point in their lives. Many times, the anger and irritation only goes as far as your windshield, never escaping your own vehicle. In Russia, however, this "gentle"man seemed to think it was a good idea to help the driver at fault by graciously removing her cell phone from her person. In my humble opinion, this should be the reward for causing a crash while distracted driving; a swift slap and a destroyed phone. Poetic justice if you ask me. Enjoy.

Watch This Russian Tank Crush 22 Cars Because It Can.

When is a tank crushing a long line of innocent cars a good thing? When it's putting on a show. That's exactly what these crazy Ruskies are doing as they allegedly break a world record for most cars crushed by a tank in one go. I can imagine that something like this in the states would be a little more organized and a lot less dangerous. Keep in mind that the cars you see have all the glass completely intact, basically turning them into glass grenades as soon as the T-55 AM 'Merida' rolls over. Enjoy.

Funniest Go-Pro Rally Capture EVER. Samir, PLEASE!

"Samir, you ass!"
In the world of Rally Racing, the co-driver is the most important piece of equipment you have at your disposal. They tell you what type of turn is coming up and how fast you need to be going when you reach said corner. That's pretty freakin important when traveling at near-triple digit speeds over gravel and rough terrain. Unfortunately for this co-driver, these two probably should have switched places. It looks like the one called Samir Thapar either has the worst hangover ever, or he is just absolutely terrible at racing. Vivek Ponnusamy (co-driver), on the other hand, seems to know the course like the back of his hand, just as any good co-driver should. Watch as the hilarity ensues, as this could be the most entertaining four minutes of your day. Enjoy.

"NEVER BEFORE": 1984 Corvette Commercial

Oh eighties, how you make me cringe. The Chevrolet Corvette is the flagship sports car for the Golden Bowtie, and nothing demonstrates how proud they are of that fact than this cheesy 80's commercial. Check it out and enjoy.

The Future is Screwing With Autonomous Cars

Autonomous cars. Just the idea of self-piloting cars was something from a bad sci-fi flick (iRobot, ehem....) that had people imagining what it would be like cruising down the highway at 200mph while reading a book or catching a few z's. That being said, JASON TORCHINSKY of Jalopnik, has come up with a myriad of ways to entertain oneself once autonomously driven vehicles have taken over our humble little planet. Check out the story here. Enjoy.

Classic Turbo People Mover! Dodge Caravan Turbo

As many of you may know, my favorite category of automobile is the "Super Sleeper". In my humble (not) opinion, the look on someones face as you blow by them in something your mother would take to church every Sunday is absolutely priceless. What we have here is the ultimate super sleeper platform. It is a 1989 Dodge Caravan 2.5L turbo. In stock form it only has a measly 150 hp, with 170 ft lbs of torque. While these digits may not be very impressive at first glance, you must keep in mind that the normally aspirated version of the 2.5L mill barely pushes 100 hp. That being said, there is PLENTY of room for improvement. I can imagine losing some rotating weight by doing a balance shaft delete, or even something as simple as a slightly larger turbo would greatly improve the performance of this unassuming, soccer mom people mover. Would you drive this thing on the streets? Or does it need a bullet to the block? Let us know after checking out this sweet clip of a beefed up Caravan on the drag strip. Enjoy.

Incredibly Talented BMW Driver

If you ever see someone driving a 3-series BMW and wonder if they even realize what they own, you are not alone. BMW is known as "The Ultimate Driving Machine" for a reason, and a super modified BMW in the hands of the right person is exactly that. Garo Haroutounian is the driver in question, and I must say, he has some serious huevos. Some of the turns in the clip make me fear for his life, but of course, you'll have to see for yourself. Would you take this thing for a spin on that road given the opportunity? I know I would. Enjoy.
